France - Bordeaux

Bordeaux has a modern maritime climate that benefits from the effect of the Gulf Stream. The Dordogne and Garonne rivers also exert a significant influence on both the climate and the soil structures.

Almost all Bordeaux are produced from a blend of grape varieties. 13 are permitted under the appellation's regulations, but Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon dominate

Bordeaux is four times the size of Burgundy and the centre of the fine wine world. The first recorded mention of wine production in Bordeaux was in 350 AD.
