We never buy wines solely on the basis of awards, as not all growers place wines for tasting. Anthony believes that quality and value can be present in a wine irrespective of whether or not it has won awards. Nevertheless it is pleasing to see judges' commentary confirming the attributes we have identified in a wine during tasting. Lifted violet scents with notes of blackberry, chocolate cake and cedarwood. Pleasant smooth tannins ands excellent balance between oak character and the sweet plum and prune fruits.

Dark garnet. Classic cassis nose, elegant and well evolved, a touch gamey, with ripe vinosity and a discreet oak aroma. In fact it's almost scented. Sweet entry, soon opening to a lavish palate, coating and ample mouth feel, and a barely noticeable tannic structure which will enable further ageing.

Glossy and modern, with lovely perfume and ripe yet fresh cherry fruit bolstered by notes of expensive oak and liquorice. Savoury and understated, this is full of well-harnessed power, with fine tannins propping up the sour cherry flavours. Ethereal, pure and delicious.

Awarding each year for "Gran Oro", "Oro", and "Plata", "Pisco" categories, the Catad'Or wine awards recognise exceptional Chillian wines.
Challenge International du Vin
Each spring, more than 5,000 wines from 37 countries are tasted over two days in Bordeaux - France by some 700 wine professionals and expert wine-loving consumers. The Challenge International du Vin is the longest running major international wine competition. It is also the largest international wine competition held in France and certified to ISO 9001 (version 2008), a certification which testifies to its established high-quality approach and the application of rigorous technical standards to its organization.

For 148 years, the Concours Général Agricole has been defending the taste and quality of products from the French regions' sectors of excellence.
Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
The Concours Mondial is an international, professional competition whose aim is to reward the best wines and spirits produced worldwide. Since 2006, the Concours Mondial decided to reinforce its International character by going beyond its borders. After a first and successful experience in Portugal, the organisers decided to continue with this idea and in 2007 took the event to Maastricht, one of the foundation blocks of the construction of Europe. Bordeaux, Valencia, Palermo, Guimarães, Bratislava followed. In 2014, the Concours will take place in Brussels. Despite these peregrinations the Concours nevertheless remains faithful to its ‘AO’ and link with Bruxelles, the capital of Europe. The Concours is open to all wines, special wines and mistelles with the exception of table wines without geographic indication.

International Wine and Spirit Challenge
Now in its 48th year, the International Wine & Spirit Competition remains as relevant today as it did when wine chemist Anton Massel founded ‘Club Oenologique’ in 1969. Massel had the idea of creating a wine and spirit competition which was based not just on organoleptic judgement but where all entries also had to undergo chemical analysis. In 1978 the name was changed to the ‘International Wine & Spirit Competition’ and the disciplines of the Competition were refined into what we know the competition to be today. Technical controls were tightened to ensure the highest quality standards were achieved and maintained to a consistent standard year after year.
International Wine and Spirits Awards
The International Wine & Spirits Awards is organized and developed by Catavinum in Vitoria, Spain. The objectives of this competition are: -Inform international consumers and professionals of about the quality of award winning wines, helping to disseminate and communicate it -Provide a message of guidance to 80% of consumers who expect international references on wine -Increase the production of quality wines -Help spread the culture of wine and consumption reasonable of this beverage with beneficial health qualities
International Wine Challenge
The International Wine Challenge (IWC) in its 31st year is a meticulously judged wine competition which assesses every wine blind and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. Throughout the rigorous judging processes, each medal-winning wine is tasted on three separate occasions by at least 10 different judges and awards include medals (Trophy, Gold, Silver, Bronze) and Commended and Great Value awards.
Japan Women's Wine Awards
“SAKURA” Japan Women’s Wine Awards, which aims to “find wines that go well with Japanese food culture”, “increase wine consumption”, and “expand opportunities for women in the wine industry” received 4,222 entries from 28 countries in 2023.
Le Grand Tasting Wine Awards
A recommendation seal for consumers of Hong Kong, that covers all wines from around the world created by Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, two French wine specialists.
Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards
The Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards was established in 1997 to offer South African producers the opportunity of having their wines adjudicated locally by a highly experienced and respected panel of professionals from around the globe.
Mundus Vini
The Grand International Wine Award conferred by MUNDUS VINI GmbH is regarded in Germany as a prestigious international competition for wines from all wine-growing regions around the world.
National Wine Challenge
The National Wine Challenge, incorporating Top 100 SA Wines, the premier fine-wine-only wine competition in South Africa.
Prix Plasir Bettane et Desseauve
The so called 'Price Pleasure' wine awards, a competition issuing a prescription label for consumers, open to all French and foreign wines, sold between 2 and 18 euros, and all champagnes for less than 30 euros.

Sommelier Wines
The Sommelier Wine Awards is Britain’s only ontrade wine competition focusing entirely on wines aimed at the on-trade. The SWA judges work in the on-trade, or are leading consultants. Wines with general distribution in the high street are not permitted to enter, except for sparkling and fortified wines, or merchants' online-exclusive wines. The Gold List is the defining objective of this competition, to put together the ultimate wine list for the UK on-trade – the Gold List – from about 2,500 wines sent in. This list covers everything from great value wines to trophy quality bottles..
