Misty Cove is a family owned and operated boutique wine producer, based in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Founded in 2008, Andrew Bailey and his family oversee the vineyard and wine-making process, to ensure every bottle of Misty Cove is lovingly hand crafted.
Marlborough is located on the north eastern corner of the South Island of New Zealand, and is one of the sunniest and driest regions of New Zealand. They have a fantastic number of sunshine hours per year, however the climate is relatively cool, with an average daily temperature during summer of 24°C with clear cool evenings. The large temperature fluctuation between day and night creates a slow and flavour-intensifying ripening period, allowing their grapes to retain a fresh and vibrant acidity.
Misty Cove’s fruit is sourced from strategically positioned sites in the Wairau Valley, Rapaura and the Omaka Valley regions - renowned for exceptional vines. Their particular focus is on sub-regional differences to give them the best blending possibilities. In short; they take the best environmental ingredients available, and utilise them to make some very special wines.
Misty Cove’s Estate Sauvignon Blanc captures the essence of Marlborough’s sub-regional characters. Lovingly handcrafted and produced from their vineyards in the Wairau and Waihopai Valleys, this wine captures Marlborough’s unique environment.
The fruit was carefully harvested in the cool of the morning to preserve its delicate flavours and natural acidity. After harvest, the grapes were gently pressed, and the juice was transferred into stainless steel tanks for cool fermentation, retaining the fruit’s vibrant aromas and fresh character. The wine was then fined and filtered to ensure clarity and stability before being bottled.
Contains: sulphites.
The colour is a delightful light lime and the bouquet is full of lively gooseberry, fresh herbs and melon aromas with tropical passion fruit and citrus fruit character on the palate. This wine has great acidity and length, finishing refreshingly limey and elegant.
