Bodegas Sonsierra was born in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, in the heart of a region with unique characteristics for vine growing, where the Tempranillo grape finds its perfect environment. In 1962, more than 240 vine growers decided to pool their 430 hectares of vineyards to realize an old dream of farmers in the village: the creation of a cooperative in which they produce their own wines. Today Mindiarte is one of several labels produced in this spirit by the cooperative.
Planting occupies a wide variety of different terrain: from the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains at an altitude of 770 metres, to the rolling terraces of the lowlands near the River Ebro, at an altitude of just 420 metres. This diversity is an exceptional legacy handed down to us from our forebears, which we take great pains to tend and protect.
- La Sierra: the highest vineyards (525- 770 m) and the freshest, wettest region.
- La Comarca: intermediate zone (485- 525 m), with moderate temperatures and rainfall.
- La Ribera: the lowest area (420-485 m) and also the hottest and driest.

Mindiarte Rioja Blanco Mindiarte
Origin: Rioja
Sonsierra is in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and is part of the municipality in the Spanish La Rioja region. Sonsierra means "from under the Sierra" - implying: "protected by the mountain range".
Bodegas Sonsierra's wines are amongst the most prestigious Rioja wines, fine and aromatic in their youth, well balanced and with a delicate bouquet once aged. They are wines with a unique personality, with the unmistakable character of a historical area dedicated to wine.
The climate is Mediterranean although Rioja Alta Comarca is a little wetter than Rioja Baja. Temperatures range from 11.8°C – 31.8°C and rainfall between 300 mm - 600 mm per annum. In winter the Cierzo wind blows constantly over the La Rioja region.

Winemaker's Notes
This wine is a pale yellow in colour. There is white fruit aroma (pear and banana) with a soft floral hint. The palate is very tasty and balanced with a very integrated fresh acidity. The aftertaste is pleasant and subtle.

Mindiarte Rioja Crianza Mindiarte

Located on the lower slopes of the Cantabrian Mountain Range.
Vinification
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature and maceration with the skins for about 13 days. Aged for 12 months in American oak Bordeaux-type barrels, followed by a minimum of 3 months’ bottle ageing.

Winemaker's Notes
Intense ruby-red colour, with great depth. To the nose, vanilla and cinnamon aromas stand out, mixed with mature fruit. In the mouth, it is smooth and round, with good body and very well integrated sweet tannins.

Mindiarte Rioja Reserva Mindiarte
Origin: Rioja
Located on the lower slopes of the Cantabrian Mountain Range.
Vinification
Fermentation in stainless steels tanks for 10 days. Maceration with the skins for 20 days to obtain the right colour. Aged for 12 months in American (80%) and French (20%) oak Bordeaux-type barrels. A minimum of 24 months’ bottle ageing.

Winemaker's Notes
Appealing deep red colour with ruby and tawny rims. To the nose, smooth notes with good quality wood and spicy hints. In the mouth, round and pleasant, with toasty hints at the finish that give it consistency. Lingering mineral notes.

Fermentation at a controlled temperature of 25ºC to preserve and extract the fruity aromas to the maximum, plus maceration with the skins of around only 7 days so as not to extract too many.

Winemaker's Notes
Cherry coloured wine with violet rims. There is a variety of aromas on the nose with a hint of red fruit. The palate is backboned and fresh with a very fruity finish.
