Guru Chenin Blanc Hoopenburg

Origin: South Africa

The Grapes from this wine are sourced from Paarl

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and packed into small 20kg cases. The grapes are then transported in the cool morning to the Hoopenburg cellar. The grapes are then hand tipped directly into the press without any crushing or de-stemming. Pressing of the grapes last approx 3 hours with the juice settling naturally overnight. Fermentation takes around three weeks and then immediately racked and left for two months to age on the lees. The wine is then bottled with light filtration.

Guru Sauvignon Blanc Hoopenburg

Origin: Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Hoopenburg vineyards are unique in that they are the only wine estate in South Africa where 100% of the grapes are produced from low yielding bush vines. Bush vines provide a natural canopy to protect the grapes from the sun and allow them to reach optimum ripeness and lower yields. The Hoopenburg team follow and believe in the principle of environmentally-friendly farming. They have converted some of their vineyard to organically grown blocks and the rest of Hoopenburg is farmed according to South Africa's IPW Scheme (Integrated Production of Wine). The grapes for this wine are sourced only from the coolest slopes in the Western Cape, enabling only the best Sauvignon grape flavours to be released into the wine.
