The Hoopenburg vineyards are unique in that they are the only wine estate in South Africa where 100% of the grapes are produced from low yielding bush vines. Bush vines provide a natural canopy to protect the grapes from the sun and allow them to reach optimum ripeness and lower yields. The Hoopenburg team follow and believe in the principle of environmentally-friendly farming. They have converted some of their vineyard to organically grown blocks and the rest of Hoopenburg is farmed according to South Africa's IPW Scheme (Integrated Production of Wine). The grapes for this wine are sourced only from the coolest slopes in the Western Cape, enabling only the best Sauvignon grape flavours to be released into the wine.
