The origins of this winery can be traced back to 1852, when the family first settled in the Côte du Py. Since then wine making has passed from father to son, with constant attention and a focus on the quality of the wines. All the wines from the Domaine are made using the Gamay grape variety and vinified, aged and bottled at the Domaine.
The bedrock of the Py slope constitutes of blue rock and decomposed schist. With the agreeable temperatures of the Côte du Py, these remarkable soils and careful management Domaine Savoye produces wines of fine quality.
This wine is made from vines of 35 years old and more, on the Cote-de-Py slope. Producing a wine that is fleshy and richly perfumed with flavours of red cherries and strawberries with hints of almond. It is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth or cellared for many years where it will develop further complexity.
Vine growing and Vinification here follow tradition closely.
The flavours of this wine are as a result of the broken up schist’s in the soil. To describe this condition Morgon deserves its own specific expression and thus the term 'il morgonne' has been adopted. It is a full-bodied and virile wine, dominated by touches of cherry, kirsch and at times apricot. It is also suited for ageing.
