The Shaw family has over 40 years of wine industry experience as a vigneron and vintner. Their dream for family involvement inspired Richard and Marie to expand from 5 acres to over 1,200 acres to become one of the largest owners of vineyards in the premium cool climate regions of McLaren Vale and Currency Creek in South Australia.
In the 1800s Goolwa was the most important river port in South Australia linked by rail to Port Elliot, where sailing ships unloaded ballast stone to refill their holds with wool, grain and wine for their return trip to England. Buildings on Shaw Family Vintners Vineyards are made from this stone. The ships silhouette and the stories on each label are a tribute to those mighty sailing ships.
In the days when sailing ships were the pride of European navies, they flew a number of banners to confuse the enemy. Sooner or later they would have to raise their flag and fight for King and Queen, hence the expression, "show your true colours". This wine is a fine example of us doing the same; it is a great Clare Valley Riesling and we're proud to nail it to our mast.
The Clare Valley is a wonderful place which brings out the best from Riesling grapevines. Aromatic, floral aromas lead to lively citrus flavours and a crisp dry finish. Enjoy now or will reward with careful cellaring.

The McLaren Vale vineyards are located 45 minutes south of Adelaide. This region was first planted with vines in the 19th Century and has a maritime climate. The afternoon sea breezes are essential for producing wines that exhibit soft, round and normally full-bodied wines with intense earthy flavours. The soils of the vineyards are made up predominantly of rich red loams over stone infused clay.
Carefully matured in American & French oak barrels for 18 months.
Beautiful aromas of blackberries, eucalyptus, chocolate and mint. On the palate it is smooth and full bodied and finishes with fine tannins. Wonderfully elegant on the surface but has powerful underlying varietal characters that may take you by surprise.
