The Shaw family has over 40 years of wine industry experience as a vigneron & vintner. Their dream for family involvement inspired Richard & Marie to expand from 5 acres to over 1,200 acres to become one of the largest owners of vineyards in the premium cool climate regions of McLaren Vale & Currency Creek in South Australia.

Emetior derived from the Latin meaning “to pass over, traverse". The Shaw Family’s ongoing quest for quality fruit for their wines led them from the red earths of McLaren Vale to a region of complementary flavour & taste synergies, traversing the Mt Lofty Ranges to Currency Creek. Emetior recognizes this journey.

Vinification

McLaren Vale, located 45 minutes south of Adelaide, was first planted with vines in the 19th century & has a maritime climate. The afternoon sea breezes are essential to producing wines that exhibit soft, round, normally full-bodied wine with intense earthy flavours.

Only produced during exceptional vintages, harvest takes place from February to late April with maturation in American & French oak hogsheads for 30 months.

Winemaker's Notes

Lifted violets, vanillin & chocolate notes on the nose. Full bodied palate, ripe plums, prunes & spice up front with savoury, earthy characters layered beneath, which persist through to the supple, fine velvety tannins & trace of black pepper on the finish. Big, bold & beautiful.
