The Shaw family has over 40 years of wine industry experience as a vigneron and vintner. Their dream for family involvement inspired Richard and Marie to expand from 5 acres to over 1,200 acres to become one of the largest owners of vineyards in the premium cool climate regions of McLaren Vale and Currency Creek in South Australia.
Skilled Stonemasons crafted buildings from ballast stone on the Shaw Family Vintners Estate and around many South Australian coastal towns. Stonemason wines are crafted from their cooler climate Currency Creek vineyards, which allows fruit and varietal definition to be fully expressed. Each variety shows a different stonemasons signature carving which can been seen on many of the buildings which they built.

Their dream for family involvement inspired Richard and Marie to expand from 5 acres to over 1,200 acres to become one of the largest owners of vineyards in the premium cool climate regions of McLaren Vale and Currency Creek in South Australia.
The skilled stonemasons who built many of South Australia’s finest buildings and indeed some around their own vineyards, each had their own signature by way of a mason’s mark. The symbols on their Stonemason range are a tribute to their skill and diversity and appropriate recognition of this time honoured craft.
The Currency Creek region is located 65 minutes south of Adelaide and is 20 minutes from the McLaren Vale region via a picturesque, winding road over the Mt Lofty Ranges.
This region is located adjacent to Lake Alexandrina and is within 4 km (3 miles) from the Southern Ocean and benefits from cool sea breezes that help with a slow but clean ripening. This climate allows the grapes sugar and flavour levels to develop while retaining a balanced natural acidity. Cooler than McLaren Vale and the neighbouring Langhorne Creek regions.
Wine experts laud the Currency Creek region for producing consistent style, ultra premium quality and outstanding varietal definition wines.
Harvest takes place from late February to early May.
Complex, structured, full bodied with classic varietal characters of blackcurrant and mint chocolate supported by subtle oak as it clings to the glass.
