The Cave (wine-cellar) de Pomérols was founded in 1932 and has steadily grown and prospered - and has seen a great deal of modernisation since then! The vineyards are planted on sun-drenched hillsides in the coastal region called “costières” - situated between the garrigue and the Etang de Thau. The soil, mainly clay and limestone, is perfect for producing high-quality wines in harmony with the terroir. Following the merging of the Cave of Castelnau de Guers in 2003 and the Cave of Mèze in 2007, the subsequently extended vineyards of the Vins de la Famille de Beauvignac - Wines of the Beauvignac Family – are spread over 1750 hectares, 400 of which are classified AOP Picpoul de Pinet.

Grape varieties grown include Piquepoul, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon, Terret for the white varietal and Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan for the red and rosé. The production is on average, 57% white, 21% rosé and 22% red.

Our wines are classified half in IGP Pays d’OC (Indication Geographique Protégée) and 20% in AOP (Appellation Origine Protégée) Picpoul de Pinet. The remainder in IGP Cotes de Thau is mainly rosé.

The Vineyards are planted on the sun drenched hillsides called “Costières” (Coastal Region) in the Mediterranean garrigue, near the Etang de Thau – A coastal lagoon situated between the port of Sète and Marseillan. The Garrigue is the name given to open scrubland made up of low-growing, dwarf bushy shrubs including holm oak, juniper, broom and wild herbs such as rosemary, thyme and sage.

Winemaker's Notes

The colour is a superb pale yellow with bright hues. An elegant nose with aromas of fresh fruit and citrus, especially Grapefruit. The balance is zesty and harmonious with great varietal expression.
