Saint-Joseph is the second largest appellation of the northern Rhone located on the warm sunny west bank. The appellation is marked by its steep terraced slopes which lead steeply down to the vast Rhone river which carves out the landscape of the northern Rhone. This appellation is famous for its age worthy reds made from predominantly Syrah, but there are still a small portion of vineyards making whites from the varieties of Marsanne and Roussanne.

We have decided to showcase this delicious white wine as it is a true celebration of the late summer, golden in colour and rich in flavour and complexity, it really is one of our favourite summer wines. Made from 60% Marsanne and 40% Roussanne grown in a tiny 1 hectare plot in the area of Chateaubourg in the Ardeche, on chalky granitic soils which help retain the acidity of the grapes and what keeps this wine so moreish.

Domaine Durand is led by brothers Eric and Joel who joined forces in 1996 and have been making outstanding wines ever since.

Expect a deliciously smooth wine, stone fruit and cooked lemon with a hint of warm barley, and a touch of oak to create a little extra body and complexity. This wine is elegant and is a beautiful pairing with roast chicken, baked salmon or ratatouille or purely enjoyed in its own while soaking up the last of the late summer sunshine.
